Backward Aging 3.4 – Consciousness

 

You have the power to change. Anything you have learned can be unlearned, and relearned in a healthier way, a new way that better matches reality, and brings you better results.

You do not have flaws and shortcomings! You may believe you are not perfect, and cannot improve yourself. However, you have the power to alter whatever you don’t like or want about yourself. But, as long as you believe you can’t change, you won’t.

Your Self-Image is partly made of such limiting beliefs that become self-fulfilling prophecies. Your Self-Image sets the boundaries of your personal accomplishments. All of your abilities, actions, feelings, and behaviors are consistent with your Self-Image.

You can consider your Self-Image as your “ideal ego”, or as the conception, you have of yourself. Ideas that are inconsistent with your Self-Image are rejected, not believed, and not acted upon. Ideas which are consistent with your Self-Image are accepted and can be acted upon.

Now think about this! Could it be that you gave up the dreams you had when you were young, just because you believed that your “ideal ego” was not up to the task? In other words, could a misconception of your real potential, a Self-Image programmed too low by others, be the cause of your failure to try? You bet this can happen!

The secret is that you’re never too young or too old to change your Self-Image and start to live a new life. Peace of mind, happiness, and success really mean “more life” and that’s what you can have if you change your Self-Image. Remember: “If it does not challenge you, it does not change you“.

You first have to understand how all human beings function. You are probably familiar with what is called the conscious mind and the unconscious. These concepts are poorly defined, because they are very complex, but what matters here is the proper way to use the power of your mind to change and reach your goals.

Let’s assume that your conscious mind is made up of all your thoughts. Whatever you think is your conscious mind. The unconscious mind is just a goal-striving mechanism controlled by your conscious mind. If you feed it with positive goals, it operates as a positive mechanism. If you feed it with negative goals, it functions as a failure mechanism.

The way to feed it is to create vivid images of your goals. In fact, your imagination is the control center of your unconscious mind. Once ordered to reach an imagined goal, it will go to work and find the best way to reach the selected goal. The answer will come as flashes, sudden intuitions, thoughts or visions in your dreams. The way you look at the world will change. You will see things you never saw before. Opportunities to go one step in the direction of your goal will pop up. When these positive possibilities pop up, go for it and take action!

Worrying is unhelpful because it is the equivalent to giving instructions to your unconscious mind to find the ways to fail! But, focusing on positive images is a call to your unconscious mind to reach these goals.
